Brown Fused Alumina Powder(Fines) we talk about refers to BFA with particle size very small which it’s almost not possible for us to check its grit shape/appearance by our eyes. Take FEPA standard for example, it ranges from F240 to F3000. Although it’s also a sub product group of BFA, while different from coarse grains in Production Method, Chemical Content, Color, Physical/Chemical Properties and Applications.


Production: After Brown Fused Alumina coarse grains are sieved, leftover powder is accumulated at the production line. We collect and remove the contaminations from it, then sieve it with water using different grades of water pressure controlled precisely. The leftover powder is divided into various sizes, and also cleaned in this process. Then we dry them with oven.


Impurity: Because of the water sieve and oven dry process, it is very clean material with no dust and little impurity. This is very important for precision and accuracy when used for polishing, precision abrasive tools, electronic parts etc.


Color: Color of BFA powder is much lighter than coarse grains. It is usually light brown, and even looks dark grey.


Chemical Content: Aluminium Oxide(Al2O3) of it is lower(usually 88%-94% depending on various sizes), and other elements like Titanium Oxide(TiO2), Silicon Oxide(SiO2) higher. So it has moderate hardness and better tenacity, which improve its wear resistance and create less heat on metal surface preparation.


Physical & Chemical Properties: Due to its chemical content and production process, it has better thermal conductivity, chemical stability and corrosion resistance.


Applications:
1; Dry or wet blasting which requires no dust for abrasives
2; Blasting which requires very low iron and magnetic content
3; Production of precision abrasive tools like sanding stone, abrasive blocks etc.
4; Cleaning and polishing of electronic parts, photoelectric parts, tooth mold, precision machinery parts etc.
5; Carve and special effect on glass and acrylic surfaces
6; Refractory sand for precision casting
7; Filler in various refractory, paint, and ceramic products
8; Production of ceramic parts in electronic industry
